Recipes
These are the recipes I have made multiple times and like enough to recommend.
-
Baked Potato
-
Berry smoothie
-
Black Beans Only took my Instant Pot 6 hours on the slow cooker setting.
-
Blueberry muffins I usually add 2.5-3 cups of blueberries instead. If I am making mini muffins it bakes in 15 minutes. I use frozen blueberries that I wash but do not thaw. I don't make the streusel. I'm experimenting with replacing 1/2 to 3/4 of the butter with canola or coconut oil.
-
Cacio e Pepe
-
Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo (video) Use a green bell pepper like the video instead of a red bell pepper like the blog!
-
Ceaser Salad
-
Chicken Adobo
-
Chicken and Skirt Steak Fajitas I double the onions, still use 1 red bell pepper, and 2 poblano peppers instead of green bell peppers. I also broil the meat on a wire rack on the baking sheet. Pat the meat very dry!
-
Chicken Drumsticks I cook this on 425 the whole time, for just 40 minutes and rotate it once about halfway through
-
Chicken Stock
-
Chicken Tinga
-
Coffee

Daal (written recipe) We use our instant pot for 1 minute, with 3 cups of liquid. Once the instant pot finishes, we let it depressurize for 5-10 minutes before using the quick release. I saute the onion and aromatics in the instant pot, it does a good enough job and then you don't need to clean a skillet. We use our instant pot for 1 minute, with 3 cups of liquid. Pizza Pan Recipe

Pork Chile Verde (Chicken thighs are great too! I usually use 4. If sear chicken thigh, pressure cook for 20 min)

Shrimp Etouffee
-
Spaghetti Aglio e Olio (Spaghetti with oil and garlic)

Misc stuff I like
-
Andy Puddicombe TED talk on meditation. Meditation seems to mean a lot of things to a lot of different people, but I find that taking minutes and just counting my breaths up to 10 and down to 1 on repeat erases my nervous energy. Additionally, I used to get really stressed before interviews, but if I count my breaths beforehand I don't- I feel really calm and alert and the stakes seem lower and obstacles are more in proportion. I recommend watching this video, and trying it.

My favorite video on the internet

I also love this video

Pretty simple bodyweight workout routine
-
Vimtutor if you want to learn vim. This was half of how I got comfortable with vim. The other half was watching youtube videos and having friends recommend plugins. It also helped me to map escape to 'jk', because that doesn't come up in English that much (ever?) and its way more fun than hitting the escape key.

Netgames.io is a simple website that looks like it was designed for mobile and works on desktop, and has a good selection of group games to play online.
-
TigerTruckStop.com is a website for a gas station in nowhere Louisiana. The gas station's selling point was that it had a live tiger in a cage outside (who didn't look very happy). This website destroys me because of the pettiness of its tone ('activist busybodies'), the way it brags about getting a special exemption from the governor, and the way it begs visitors to sign petition. Also it is the most 90's html website ever (although I don't have room to talk).
-
RectangleApp is the best window manager I've used (although I've never paid for one). I used Spectacle until it was no longer supported and RectangleApp has more intuitive default controls and more options.
-
Brave Browser is a browser built off of chrome's engine (which means you can use chrome extensions if you use those!) and is really user friendly and privacy focused. The best part is it comes with a good adblocker so you don't have to install one separately and manage the extension. You don't need to be very internet savvy to use brave at all.
-
Youtube DL is a tool for downloading videos or audio from youtube. I like using it because I try not to go on the internet on weekends, so I have to download my videos in advance (I like having to think about what I want to watch/listen to instead of just taking suggestions because I am bored). The options '-x --audio-format mp3' will download audio only.

TED Talk about Dementia
-
Lecture on deconstruction/simplicity in machine learning. A really engaging lecture from Killian Weinberger from Cornell on writing papers for machine learning algorithms.
